8 ON REPEAT vintage t-shirt show

brandon gardner's 8 on repeat vintage t-shirt show was held last night at rojo . tons and tons of good stuff. i scored a great western pearl snap shirt, a new/old stock mello yellow shirt which was the best shirt in the place in my opinion, a wyoming shirt for duquette and a few others. i spotted a st. augustine shirt from the 70's, a tampa bay bandits shirt from the early 80's... hundreds of shirts were on hand including some pricey collector's shirts. the greatest of the collector's shirts that i wanted was the $100 pink floyd animals shirt. damn. so... i took some shitty pics with my cell phone whilst browsing and drinking. i also had a great burger. last night was rojo bartender, lucy's 25th birthday. visible in the pics are jessica bush, alison hulsey, brett tyre, christine caiola, nate, shana, morgan, duquette johnston, sarah leah and a few guys from the band sunny so brite... aight... you can check out brandon's online store / myspace page, etc ...

MUSE OF FIRE - MAY 19-20

i'm the music director for the debut production of MUSE of FIRE: shakespeare at sloss which will take place on may19th and 20th, 2007 at sloss furnaces in birmingham, al. i'm taking submissions from bands/artists to play the festival in the late morning and afternoon of those two days. each band will likely play one set on either day. there might be some exceptions where one band plays both days of the festival. the keystone of the festival will be the production of HENRY V. and this is not your parent's HENRY V. this is a gritty industrial version of the production with DJ COCO providing the score to the play in real time. this part 5 post is nothing but photos taken by friends of mine and links to various magazines and blogs based in bham. not a bad way to spend 5 days... actually, here's one more photo from me... taken during rehearsals for the austin trip. SXSW07 highlights for me were : the yard dog gallery show featuring midlake and cold war kids, our new buddy richard, the TTS show and venue, the st. vincent gig, wondering around with beer, the weird yard party, filming the hijinks in the parking lot after the bennigan's beer run, free booze at the slacker bar and the "bait" at the entrance, various moments on the road, our new phrases, females discussing female anatomy, the afternoon spent in a parking lot watching the rosebuds, teasley's relentless focus on timing whilst playing drums for st. vincent, fruity-boner, everyone's individual dry humor, constantly trying to free up memory in my cell phone to take more photos, the vibe inside the ale house... and probably ...
