dedicated to the douchebad bootleg dvd vendor at the record show yesterday. looky here asshole... youtube has put you out of business. thanks to video footage collectors worldwide, this incredibly rare stuff is now out on the interweb for free. i was pretty crazy for dave era van halen as a teen and in recent years, i've allowed myself to dig back thru a lot of stuff i have and enjoy it for the good wholesomeness that it was. most of these video clips i have never seen. and that is saying a lot. this shit looks really old! dave years "loss of control" super rare video valarie / eddie feature '82 "house of pain" live '84 "out of love" '79 tour "mean street" / italy tv '81 raw footage of dave (panama video) 1982 roth interview -insane 1981 roth interview. must see. the infamous mtv interview w/ martha dave's philosophy '84 1984 behind the scenes raw footage dave on nightwatch '82 "you really got me" - 198...

ELVIS is STILL DEAD

on this, the 30th anniversary of the passing of a fat man from tupelo... i offer up this fitting eulogy. he, elvis... is often called the king of rock n' roll. well i've got news for you people. rock n' roll is dead too. it probably died in the 70's. maybe it died with lennon, the true king of rock n' roll. it doesn't matter. it's all gone. we now get to spend the rest of eternity in a post rock ironic depression. one positive note; elvis was a great gospel singer, and he did some great pop songs too - every time i hear little sister on the radio, i turn it up. but i digress... here's the eulogy, courtesy of 90's rock band, living colour: Tabloids scream Elvis seen at a shopping mall That's the kind of talk That makes my stomach crawl Picture a zombie Elvis In a tacky white jump suit Just imagine a rotting Elvis Shopping for fresh fruit You can't 'cause Chorus: Elvis is dead Elvis is dead Elvis is dead Elvis is dead When...

1997 and the summer of death

in may of 1997 i took my last class, a public relations class, at the university of north florida. this concluded my college career. i did have to take one summer french course which really sucked, as it was only held at 8 am on saturdays across town... but for the most part, the summer of 1997 was relaxing and full of promise. meanwhile, seemingly every week... someone i respected or admired was picked off by the powers that be up there in cloudville . the following is a list of people that i respected at the time and their dates of demise. the links are their listings in wikipedia . i'm also listing people who didn't die in the summer, but were notable in one way or another. the most tragic series of deaths were the oddly related deaths of diana, princess of wales... who was close to gianni versaci, and who had also recently befriended mother theresa. jeff buckley, who was the largest celebrity supporter of nusrat fateh ali khan, died within a few months of each other....
