my friend steve in seattle posted this link on his site yesterday at the same time that i was venting about super-walmart and the annual consumer binge that has become christmas. why don't we just bake a big cake and take it to jerusalem?
maybe jesus doesn't want more fake plastic crap filling up landfills. just how many of the millions of remote control toys and perfume kits, that will be distributed on 12/25, will end up at dump sites within the year?
this past weekend i watched through the sparks play their set at the nick. they were incredible. i gave jody a cd of a few rough mixes of four songs for him to consider playing on. i went out of town with jen to opp, al. on saturday, to visit with family-folk / went to a birthday party and (after travelling to the as-mentioned super-walmart to replace a flat tire), got back into bham around 6:30 on sunday and watched the peter sellers biopic on hbo. it was fantastic. i'll have to dig up my vinyl copy of the magical christian.
i rehearsed with the jesse payne band last night. we were all crap. all four of us screwed up a song at some point during the evening. we only have one more rehearsal before the show, unless we get together on saturday. i think we'll be ok. we pretty much nailed the first show a few weeks ago.
