i think is has rained 12 out of the last 13 days. i mentioned to ashby's dad that we should start building an arc and gathering up animals or something... he reminded me that when god throws a temper tantrum again, it will be with fire... so then i was like, "well shit, what are we gonna do?"
this weekend i began moving some gear over to ashby's house where we are gonna try to finish the guitars and basses. we still have some tracks to transfer from the studio, but that shouldn't take too long. ashby went to the beach this weekend, so i hung out over there to watch the fort, and to set up all this stuff. i can't say for sure, but i'm thinking the follow up to our debut album will be mainly comprised of a lute and a tamborine.
friday night i hung out with my buddy sarah and she "re-turned me on" to the genius that was "blazing saddles." we were both really a.d.d. all evening. she loaned me some toothpaste, because i forgot to bring mine to ashby's. this was a big deal to me.
two-fifths of the band long story short had some "shopping" to do in bham on saturday, so they stopped by saturday afternoon and listened to some new songs and laid down an experimental vocals at the end of a song that has given us more than a little trouble in it's short life. we discussed their possible name change from "long story short" to "the sirens." i'm all about it.
i emailed the long lost friends from my past life, and found myself in 4 different conversations with 4 different people on myspace... all on the subject of photography. sometimes i'm infatuated with my own geekiness.
later in the evening, the byrd sisters talked me into driving an hour to see beitthemeans. afterword, i finally got to see the "byrd compound" - complete with the weird cultish looking smoking device that the family likes to bring out after dinner. i tried it. it was good. really good.
did some miking experimentation with ashby's piano... went to my mom's house and stood witness to her with a hammer and 150 lbs of demolished drywall in her bedroom. she took it upon herself to start taking down the walls. remodeling. to her, it's a religion. she's on some sort of home-improvement jihaad. i'm staying out of the way.
