randomness...
i renewed my tag last week and i lost the sticker. that's gonna be a pain in the ass. my friend and diety, mary jane, is making me some kind of killer bright eyes compilation.
in a repeat of the weekend of my birthday a month ago, i had all these plans lined up, and none of them happened. last thursday i was supposed to go see kings of leon here in bham but for some reason i felt really crappy... then i got some kinda virus...
ashby's gf christine thinks the refugees brought it. goddamn that's kinda funny.
friday night, ambulance ltd. was playing at the nick along with two local bands that i know... and i had been looking forward to this show for a few months but by friday night i was dizzy and completely sick. i thought i was gonna get some kind of rabid flu but it never happened. i still have some ickiness, but not too bad. i hadn't been sick since october, '03 so i can't complain.
saturday i thought was the day of our friend jeff's blues fest, but he called last night and said that it's been moved to spring. the weekend before he was mixing live sound for b.b. king. jeff has a hard life.
houston came up from mobile to record his last guitar parts for the record, but he didn't wanna get the flu from me so he never actually did any recording. i took it upon myself to do some otherworldly guitar work on "hwy." i was a bit thrown at but i decided to take the gutsy route. tons and tons of electric slide guitar with so much ambience, it makes the edge sound like neils lofgren. it's a very fresh sound. this week i need to finish up 2 songs for our next mixing session.
btw... i'm in the midst of an intense and expensive fleetwood mac binge. i spent $50 on friday on two dvd documentaries of fleetwood mac during the rumours era. i bought their newest album last night. that's $65 spent on that band this weekend, all because i decided to put their greatest hits in my cd player. my last fleetwood mac binge was exactly 10 years ago, so i guess it was time. speaking of 10 years ago... i bought tears for fears' last 90's album, "raoul and the kings of spain" in oct '95. that kinda blows me away.
