damn. a hole 'nuther month has gone by and no posting. to be honest... most of my ramblings end up on bulletins and blogs on my myspace page. even though its probably impossible to be HERE without having been THERE... here's the linky.
so... maybe this journal is turning into more of a summary thing. at the moment on my myspace page i've got a ton of video blogs. blondie, vanity 6, basquiat... all kinds of crazy shit. i haven't been writing too many political blogs lately but i'm reading a lot about the corporations and companies that run our country from the background. super scary. i wish i didn't know as much about what is going on sometimes. i fear for our kids.
what else...
we are down to mixing our last song and this weekend we are going to be mixing some touch ups on the record as a whole. clint wells came out last saturday and did some great guitar parts on "night." really fun stuff for such a slow song. at one point i was on my knees in the live room twiddling the tremolo knob while clint played melodies with an ebow.
jeff laseki, who owns instant karma entertainment, where we have been mixing, has gone in with our friend carl ross and they have acquired a 90,000 square ft warehouse space that is connected to the studio. it has to be seen to be believed. my new adorable friend kim, who is a great painter, really needs to stretch out. and so do i. the plan is to use some of that huge space for very large abstract canvasses. sodium lighting, clean concrete flooring. very nice.
the idea of the property, is to turn it into a multi-functional entertainment venue called the railyard. auctions, concerts, raves, dj / club stuff, benefits, galleries, whatever... this building is so large, it can handle it.
its near sloss furnaces, so the aesthetic is firmly in place. there is also another venue opening up called the bottletree that promises to be both arty and functional for out of town bands. cave 9 and the nick are ok, but i'd like something a little less dingy.
we have photographers and artists, labels, musicians, designers, live engineers... all lined up for a brief showcase tour later this year.
ALL WE NEED NOW IS AN ALBUM. goddamn. will it ever end?
but fret not my friends. there is even more beauty on the horizon...
groupies in the outhouse (gito).
i'll talk more about it later. and i promise i won't wait a month to update. 2006 is the year of the supergroup side project.
