Hello friends,
I'm sometimes hesitant to broadcast what the media says about Skybucket. I feel this was something (at least at the top of this article) that expressed something very true and encouraging about the Birmingham music scene which you all have played a role in shaping.
Just pay attention to the first part which is italicized.

I can honestly say from the bottom of my heart that the music scene is so amazing right now and the best it's ever been. I cannot even believe it. I cannot even keep track of it anymore. It's really a beautiful thing. We're even starting to have a music industry here. Seriously. It's a small one, but it's wonderful. And I couldn't be happier.
All this, yet we have the crappiest radio for alternative music in town (with the exception of Scott Register's - Reg's Coffeehouse, Coyote J. Calhoun's The Edge, Tapestry, Fried Green Radio, and other assorted shows) we're about to lose Laser's Edge (our last independent non-secondhand record store for Alternative Music in Birmingham) Sad, isn't it?
On the other hand we have Bottletree and Workplay (among other establishments for music) which have both really played such an important role in helping local bands get exposure. I might add that Todd Coder (talent buyer at Workplay) has brought some really great shows to town. And I should dedicate a whole paragraph to the fine folks at Bottletree for helping transform the music scene and for giving so many local bands a platform in less than 1 1/2 years of being open. Cave 9 continues to be one of the most amazing venues in town. It has been a stepping stone for young bands (and even a frequent national touring band stop) to play in front of eager audiences.
I'm proud to say that I love Birmingham and absolutely love calling it my home. You have all contributed to make Birmingham a better place through music. Please continue to do what you've been doing.
2008 is going to be one of the most exciting (musical) years in Birmingham's history. Just wait!
