weownthesky announces its first independent release from a Southern music collective known as Wiseblood (Vol. 1)
Wiseblood (Vol. 1) is a new EP from multi-instrumentalist Shawn Avery and songwriter Ashby Pate. With appearances by members of the Bridges (Verve Forecast Records), Clint Wells (the Spots, Red Mountain Music, Matthew Smith), and members of Avery & Pate’s former band (the Ashes), the EP is a cooperative musical project and literary-musical experiment.
Recorded over a span of three years and with voluminous, accompanying literary footnotes (available soon at weownthesky. com) Wiseblood (Vol. 1) incorporates writers, nationally-renowned and local artists (including Chris Lawson and Morgan Jones), and numerous musicians into one, 8-song EP. As such, it embodies weownthesky's vision—that of supporting multi-dimensional artists of diverse genres and media.

Wiseblood (Vol 1) will be playing a cd release show, sharing the date with southern rock bands lucero and glossary on Thursday, July 10th. Copies of the EP will be available for sale.
