so, i came from not knowing what the hell "baam fest" was 2 months ago to now playing it twice on saturday. saturday afternoon i'll be playing with the greenleaves at workplay, a little before 5pm. i'll be playing bass. then later in the evening, i'll be loading up all of my drum gear and hauling it over to rogue tavern for the skybucket records artist showcase. through the sparks goes on at 10pm and vulture whale is closing the showcase at 11pm. here's the al.com info about the festival.

on labor day weekend, the 3rd raindrop festival will be held at george ward park, and will feature the usual fund raising efforts, endless free beer and the following bands:
Delicate Cutters
Duquette Johnston and the Rebel Kings
Ferocious Bubbles
Great Book of John
Kate Taylor and the Twerps
Nag Hammadi
Sunny So Brite
Twinside
i've signed on to help run the sound and assist in general. it should be fun. lhey are combining the music event this year with the other hlrt.org benefit, their disc golf tournament. hopefully the weather with cooperate. here's the facebook event page.
later in september i'll be helping out at the sidewalk film festival at the new sidelot stage, where local bands will be playing for anyone, and everyone's general entertainment. this is something sidewalk has needed to feature for a while now, considering how much local music is featured in local film productions. also, there will be somewhat of a national/international film-maker element in town, so the old "do it for the exposure" pitch will be implemented.

on september 24th, i'll be playing bottletree with through the sparks, and again at the end of october with electroliner. by then the weather should be nice and breezy. lastly, through the sparks have scheduled a cd release for the worm moon waning album that was released digitally earlier in the year. this is going to likely be the saturday after thanksgiving, which is usually a huge "going out" night in the city.
if this all plays out, this will be the most shows i've played since 2007. i think playing somewhere between 15-20 shows a year is perfect. not too hectic and not too far in between.
